I want to clean my throttle body today. BUT how imperative is it that you re adapt the throttle body with vagcom. because i have read that it will re adapt itself. My throttle body inside has a nice black ring so i think its time to do this.
The throttle body was also going at one point but I could still drive around. $50 for a used one and 45 minutes later I was good to go.
Just done this and it works, TB had been off and cleaned, ran like sh*t when I put it back in until I did this.
the throttle body is the most common issue when it comes to the EPC light on the FSI and TSI engines, I dont know why but Volkswagen installed these ****ty little wire sensors (6) into the throttle body to measure various things, mostly oil and gasoline vapor.
So I have had issues with random throttle valve pressure drop codes and rough running and limp mode. Also the car likes to randomly idle high, 1200rpm high. I also had loud boost hissing noise when boosting, sounds like a boost leak. Test drove car and it is amazing ,the car boosts quick now and I dont have the loud hissing noise when boosting (prob the throttle plate malfunctioning)
we ordered a vdo tb, installed it reset tb and it ran fine for 7 months and 20k miles.
I am doing the same thing right now to replace my throttle body (apparently the electronics or mechanism are toast). I have removed the throttle body a few times and it is one of my least favorites.
My 3.6 Passat has a similar noise for all of its 225k miles, and two engines... May not be what you're hearing but it goes through a throttle body alignment after the car is turned off.
After a week at the dealer for a throttle body replacement on my 24 Golf R ( flashing check engine, loss of power) the service advisor called and told me the engine needs to be replaced (at 9k miles!)
I have been having consistent issues with the TB. It has had the factory wire extension. Situation is as follows: Steady driving car is fine but I do get several bucks and sputters while accelerating (probably misfires) On take offs from stop signs or red lights the car will violently buck unless you are careful with the gas pedal, but ultimately 8 times out of ten will result in EPC light coming on and now you're in limp mode.
