555 Tie rod ends
pyort
Rating 4.5
  • Steering play:

I bought a set of 555s in the end. They’re exactly the same size as old OEM, so when I went in for an alignment after installation, the techs were a bit confused why I was even there - turns out the car was already aligned :)

Pros: exact OEM size, no alignment needed
Vehicle: Mazda

Raybestos Tie rod ends
muggsybeans
Rating 3.0
  • Steering play:

I purchased a Raybestos Premium tie rod end one time. It ended up being an old stock Made in USA moog part. Nice machined part as well. I ordered two but the other was a crappy Taiwan pressed tie rod end. It was for a Toyota and the Moog was close to OEM. I ended up sending the shitty Taiwan part back and buying OEM.

Pros: nice machined part
Cons: crappy Taiwan part
Vehicle: Toyota

DELPHI Tie rod ends

I got a replacement Delphi TA1646 Steering Tie Rod End Assembly from Amazon. The original tie rod had an allen wrench recess in the center so that you can hold it as you're tightening the nut. This one does not. Is this just defective or is there some trick I don't know about?

Cons: lacks allen wrench recess, difficult to tighten
Vehicle: BMW
Part number: TA1646

Very unhappy with this company right now. I was lucky to get US made tie rod ends as well, but one of the damn things popped a hole rather than grease escaping from bottom like the other side did.

Cons: boot popped a hole, grease escaped incorrectly
Vehicle: Hyundai Elantra
