I'm gonna come out of left field here and recommend either the Falken Azenis FK510 or Hankook Ventus Evo 2. Both affordable (the Hankooks moreso than the Falkens), both grip great for spirited street use, both have respectable tread lives.
I'm speaking from experience with both.
For summer tires I'd go with Michelin pilot sport 4s if you have cash to burn or Firehawk indy 500s if you are looking for a good price/performance balance.
I love my extreme contact sport, I drive aggressive and wild at times and it help keep me planted on the road
I had a good experience with Sumitomo htr a/s p02.
I had Generals on my 2012 Corolla for a few years with no abnormal wear issues. They’re quality tires.
Honestly for the price, I prefer Continentals. Similar ride quality to Goodyear but at a lower cost.
I bought them last year and they are alright. I am not a very enthusiastic driver though. They are less sticky than my cooper all season tires on dry roads but brake much better on snow than my all seasons.
I just bought these for my GTI... I am a Michelin fanboy but not impressed with these tires. My MPSS are buttery smooth and quiet. These tires are very noisy, and ride a bit rougher. I've got them 225/40/r18 mounted on stock Austins (so its not the wheels) and i've had them rebalanced twice so its not a balancing issue.
