Alternator OEM FORD or Denso
I’ve been using Denso remans lately because a lot of the cheap remans are junk and a won’t make it a year.
I am not sure what year your odyssey is, but I know you can go to rockauto.com and find the Denso remanufactured alternator that is the best one to get.
All the others tend to go bad within a year or less.
Ordered a denso reman alt for my 08 tsx last year and it fixed charging system issues I kept having with aftermarket alternators:)
I think the Denso alternator is the ONLY remanufactured alternator I will buy. I've been burned too many times trying other remanufactured brands.
But I typically always buy NEW alternators from RockAuto. Sometimes the bearing is bad out of the box so I have to return it and get another. But when I get a quiet one, they seem to work fine. Nice and steady voltage output around 14.3V
Just buy a reman denso
Ok, so it's a toyota so odds are it's a denso or denso style alternator. I used to rebuild Alternators, you will need access to test certain parts like the regulator, or diode trio, or the windings to see where it's failing.
I can’t make out the sound but once upgraded the alternator on my 29 roadster pu that had a late model bronco v6 in it and the darn thing sounded like I had a super charger with the whirling. Crazy sound but ran perfectly fine for as long as I had the truck (years).
I bought a reman Denso from NAPA. First one worked but sounded like a rattling box of rocks from the getgo. A week later I swapped it out for another Denso Reman and it has been working fine for 3-4 years now.
Get the name brand Denso part and save yourself having to replace it 3 times in a month until you finally get a good one.
Denso only aftermarket will leave you stranded every couple years. I have went through 2 of them. They both gave a very short warnings before they go.
