Alternator OEM Honda or OEM Mazda
Honda OEM alternator
Please, genuine alternators are only like $30 more and you won't suffer these issues. And also they last.
I went and got a Mazda one off of Moss bc I was sick of AutoZone remanned ones blowing up. It's plenty nice for stock electrical load
Got some faulty alternators from autozone that were overcharging or undercharging. I just bought an oem reman from mazdaswag, (or any mazda dealership store online). Works fine now.
From my experience with replacing Honda alternators, I always go OEM.
You need one specifically made for your vehicle, but you can shop around on different sites, for different brands to find one that meets your budget. I prefer ones from the OEM (ie Honda), Bosch, or Denso.
Between the two that I've owned, I have way over 250k miles in 'em and they are awesome vehicles. Maintenance has been very reasonable although we just had to put a new alternator in the one we have now.
Reminds me of my old mans '96 Honda Civic hatch. 6 hours to do the swap (4.5 out and 1.5 with a dinner break in) in his yard using mallets and a fucking chisel to get the old one out.
I'm surprised Mazda is rated so poorly, I had a Mazda MPV for 8 years and honestly the only problem I had was the driver's side window gear was worn out, and the alternator.
