OEM Volkswagen Battery

Starts fine even in -4F weather. Will probably swap it this year with another OE battery as oddly i have better luck with OE batteries and they tend to be cheaper than Autozone/Orielys/Advanced.

Pros: good cold weather starting
Vehicle: Volkswagen Touareg

OEM Volkswagen Battery

2017 got a new battery in 2023 before winter, didn't have a no start issue but figured it was time. Went with a dealer battery, was only $138ish for the 72ah upgrade and replaced it in their parking lot to get the core charge back.

Pros: affordable (72ah upgrade)
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I had to change the battery on my Volvo 940 7 years ago, it was the original battery from 1996 Wich means that my battery lasted for 22 Swedish winters.

Pros: lasted 22 years, endured Swedish winters

My 2017 original battery stayed alive for 8 years and 148k miles fascinated me how long it lasted and the fact that the auxiliary battery is still fine

Pros: stayed alive for 8 years, long lasting

The factory battery in my 2007 S60R lasted just under 10 years, and I thought that was remarkable. Much more expensive than an auto store battery though but you get what you pay for I guess

Pros: lasted just under 10 years, remarkable lifespan
Cons: much more expensive
Vehicle: Volvo

OEM Volkswagen Battery

I’ve had my id3 5 years now and had very few problems with the car or charging. I’ll get maybe 180 miles on the motorway but close to 240 miles cross country. Manchester to Sheffield to Nottingham and back to Manchester left me with around 50 miles range, but I can’t get from Manchester to London, or Manchester to Glasgow without charging.

Pros: few problems, good cross country range
Cons: insufficient range for long trips
Vehicle: Volkswagen

OEM Volvo Battery

my dishwasher has around 200 mile motorway range on a 64kWh net battery, which'll get me from Oxford to Darlington on a single charge, I could get to Newcastle if I camp behind a truck for most of it. My car is also stupidly inefficient for an EV, better EVs like a ID.3 or Megane could go further with smaller batteries.

Pros: 200 mile motorway range
Cons: stupidly inefficient
Vehicle: Volvo

2022 ID.4 in Canada. Have had two replaced. Luckily when it happened it was in my driveway for all three times. Hooked up a charger to the 12v for a few hours and it started like nothing was wrong.

Pros: charger fixed the issue
Cons: replaced two batteries
Vehicle: Volkswagen

The battery VW uses in the ID.4 is trash. I had it replaced under warranty in my 2021 after about 2 years when my car died in the garage and I had to get assistance. The tow truck driver got it going with a jump starter. It’s now just out of warranty in year 4 and I get the “Low 12V” warning on cold days.

Cons: battery is trash
Vehicle: Volkswagen
