Brake pads Akebono or Hawk Performance
I run stop tech rotors/hawk HP plus pads/motul high temp/and goodrich SS lines on my m coupe and that’s also a great, much less expensive set up.
refresh brakes with Hawk HPS 5.0 and restore look of the calipers
I replaced my OEMs with Hawk HPS 5.0s. Very similar feel to the stock pads without that initial hard bite. Less dust as well.
My wife's Cabriolet has Akebono pads, front and rear. Pedal is firm, stops fine.
I upgraded to motul 600 and hawk hp+ for my first track day. Both held up very well for my first day. I plan to use better pads next time though for similar reasons, the hp+ will overheat but they are gonna be better than stock. There's still a ton of pad life on them after my 1 track day.
Recommend to get akebonos
Akebono break pads. Thank me later
I run Akebono pads and they barely create any dust compared to oem pads. There is less of an initial bite when braking though
The only pad I've found that has both low dust and *okay* bite is Akebono Euro ceramic. They still bite less aggressively than most stock semi-metallic pads, and *way* less bite than any sort of track pad. But they're very easy on rotors, dust little, and can actually stand up to 15-20 min track sessions without falling apart.
The M240i needed new pads and rotors. I order HPS 5.0 + Zimmerman rotors from FCP's site which says they're compatible. I install them and the car sounds like a jalopy. Loud wub wub wub under braking and only braking, more pressure == more loud. It sounds like it's coming from both fronts.
