Hawk Performance Brake pads

I have the Hawk HPS Street pads on the front and rear of my 2012 tC which are paired with Stoptech slotted rotors and I love them. They bite really well after they warm up a little but if you need to stop fast they will perform very well.

Pros: perform very well, bite well

EBC Brake pads

ebc yellows are great, but you need to bed them in with a hard stop from 180 kmph, not something you want to get caught doing.

Pros: great performance
Cons: difficult bedding-in process

EBC Brake pads

I had yellows on my MR2 and I have greens on my BRZ. Yellows are amazing pads but you feel like you’re driving a 40 year old car when they are cold. If you have to stop fast on a cold morning it takes a lot more braking effort. Greens are amazing daily pads. No compromise on low temp and I haven’t even touched their top end with spirited driving.

Pros: amazing performance when hot
Cons: reduced performance when cold

I have EBC yellows on my Spyder. I'm pretty happy with them for street use, good grip and only occasional squeal.

Pros: good grip, quiet operation
Cons: occasional squeal

I’ve used EBC yellow stuffs on my RX8 and M3 daily’s supplemented with Brembo blanks. They work well for just putting around town and work especially well with heat in them. They do seem abrasive at speed and they do seem to wear rotors down perhaps a bit quicker, but I still could get 20k out of a set with a couple of track days.

Pros: good heat performance, decent lifespan
Cons: abrasive, rotor wear
Mileage: 20000 km

EBC Brake pads

I personally run Zimmermann rotors and EBC pads. No issues during heavy braking. Definitely buy quality rotors, cheap rotors warp pretty quickly.

Pros: no issues, heavy braking
Cons: cheap rotors warp

I have had a set of OEM (centric i think) pads for a while, they have lasted well thru many mountain runs (no track days)....I am in need to new front rotors/pads, so upgrading to a slotted front and EBC yellows, going to leave the rears alone for now and see how it drives with the fronts upgraded

Pros: lasted well

Hawk Performance Brake pads

Hawk hps brake pads, best bang for buck, imo. I would replace the rotors if they are starting to develop a lip at the edge of the rotor. So by looking or feeling the rotor when it’s cold or you haven’t driven it for a while. Again test when cold, never hot. If they do need replacing you can check out ECS tuning and they usually have a brake pad + brake rotor combo deal, I believe it’s under their maintenance or performance section on their page, also filter out using your car make and model. If you’re strap on cash then you can check out Chris fix on YouTube and he has plenty of DIY videos on how to install. Good luck! I bought the drilled slotted and hawk pads combo from ecs and have them on my car now. Definitely improves the brake pedal feel tremendously, would recommend.

Pros: best bang for buck, improves brake feel

I once put some EBC Organic Pads on my Honda Shadow. They worked OK, but had a "buzz" that wasn't there on the OEM Pads. I ended up replacing them after about three weeks with new OEM.

Pros: worked ok
Cons: had a buzz

Went to a track day over the weekend to realize my EBC Yellow Stuff front brake pads were dangerously low - after only 1 previous track day 6 months ago and about 5000 highway miles between.

Cons: short life
Mileage: 5000 km
