OEM Toyota Brake pads

I’ve had my Toyota 4Runner for 13 years now. Never needed to change my brakes or encountered catastrophic engine failures. Maybe lucky but per Toyota, the 4Runner is rated for 22 MPG on the highway and I’m getting 23.5 MPG.

Pros: good gas mileage

OEM Toyota Brake pads

Didn't need to even change the break pad more then once. Never need to to add oil because it never burned any. Even on its last oil change no sign of burning or sludge build up.

Pros: no oil burning, no sludge
Cons: break pad change
Mileage: 175000 km

amazing truck - I daily drove one in California (gasoline 1fz-fe is arguably the best Toyota motor ever IMO) for several years. Geared for off-road, doesn't cruise comfortably on freeways above ~70mph. 12-13 miles per gallon city or highway, always the same number. It never stranded me, so very reliable.

Pros: very reliable
Cons: eats brakes
Vehicle: Toyota Land Cruiser

I run the dimpled and slotted versions along with EBC yellow pads and they grab WAY better than stock in every comparable way. The initial bite on the pads when cold and hot is significantly better and they resist heat much longer too.

Pros: grab way better, resist heat

EBC Brake pads

I went with EBC Reds (ceramic, low dust) as they have a decent reputation. EBC brakes do not include the standard brake kit hardware.

Pros: decent reputation, low dust
Cons: no standard hardware

I haven't had any issue with yellow stuff on my 350Z doing hot track days in Miami. But the brakes don't last as long as they should. So I'm trying blue next time and I might go to the full track pads whenever that isn't enough.

Cons: don't last long
Vehicle: Nissan
