Im late to this but ill chime in anyways.

Mine is a 2008 AWD GT with every option. Mileage is 130k. And I run on Regular gas.

By todays standards its a gas guzzler, and even thirsty in 2008, but CRVs werent hugely better.

Ive done nothing to it. Still on original brake pads. And recently replaced the rear wheel bearings.

I dont know why im so lucky except that i do oil changes frequently.

One thing about driving older cars is they arent narcing your driving habits to Mazda. Good to know about insurance.

Since it is top line, it has the Bose system which is decent, but i replaced the head so i could get Bluetooth.

I sincerely believe this car has at least 5 years life left in it.

Pros: reliable, long lasting
Cons: gas guzzler
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 130000 km

I've got OE spec ferodo on my 208 GTi no complaints from me, got brembo on my Saab 9-5 aero again all good I would avoid the cheaper end of the market

Pros: no complaints, good
Cons: avoid cheaper brands

OEM Mazda Brake pads

My 12 of this generation is at 222k miles with just oil changes and tires as well. One set of pads and rotors at 175k and still had life left.

Pros: reliable and lowest maintenance

Ferodo DS2500 were good in my daily/tracked GTI and track NB Miata, until I got GLOC track pads on the latter. Which are awesome. BUT the DS2500 held up to the track really well, I'd definitely say for a daily that gets tracked they're about as good as you might get. Grease the contact points on the pad with copper or other compatible grease and i think they don't make much noise at all.

Pros: good for daily/track use
Cons: noisy

Surprisingly, it needed brake pads and rotors at 21k miles, and at $1,100 at a trusted local mechanic, it wasn't as cheap as I expected. When I bought the car with 1,400 miles on it, the piano black trim inside the car was already scratched, and it looks quite a bit worse now. I also have to echo the thin paint comments from above, I've never seen a car that scratches so easily. The car's manners on the highway at 70 mph+ are a little nervous for me. On the plus side, I've always enjoyed the way the car looks and drives around town. The interior does look way better than the original MSRP would suggest (even with scratches). And we've had no surprising issues, other than the early brake job.

Pros: enjoyed the way car looks
Cons: thin paint, scratches easily
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 33796 km

Ferodo Brake pads

Ferodo Ds2500 as brake pads or Ebc Yellostuff (a tad cheaper). Avoid drilled or grooved rotors because kinda useless. Just a good oem equivalent like Brembo (if in you market have CTF go for it)

Cons: drilled rotors useless
Vehicle: Mazda 5

OEM Mazda Brake pads

Similar thing happened to me today, vehicle is 2023 cx-50, 25k mile, not even 2 year, in upstate ny with weekly car wash, gentle on gas and brake. They said front pads are 30%, rear pads are 50%, quoted me $600 to get new front pad & rotor, and rear brake service(cleaning, lubrication). Just 2 month ago from another mechanic's report (same delear), all pads are above 50%. I don't think it's that bad that both pad and rotor need to be replaced, so I denied the work,

Cons: expensive repair, unnecessary
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 25000 km
