Brake pads Hella Pagid or Raybestos
I was using Raybestos ST43s and they had phenomenal friction.
Replaced my front and rear brakes about a year ago with Raybestos (ceramic) and have been happy with it. Stopping power has been great. Didn't realize how bad my brakes were until I put these new ones in.
You got this. Just did the brakes on my wagon myself for the first time and it was breeze. Rock auto had a really good deal on raybestos brakes when I did mine. Worked amazing
I’ve had Powerstop Z36 Impression: just average
Hawk LTS. Impression: very good
Raybestos Element 3. Impression: similar to OEM
Now I run Raybestos “Truck & Medium Duty” front & rear. They’re very good: low dust, low noise, good performance & pedal feel.
I always recommend the Raybestos Element3 EHT pads and rotors. We use them at work and have very little comebacks. Low noise, low dust, great pedal feel.
Pagid RS29 are what I always used to run on my Cayman, and I loved them. Now I run Ferodo DS1.11 on my STI, and I'm a big fan of them too, but I'd still probably go back to Pagids if I went back to Porsche.
Pagid Yellows (also branded as RS29) is what I have on my 987.2 track car. If you want a track only pad, I’ve had great experience with PFC08, but I’ve used that on my BMW128i track car, so take that into consideration. Both can be used to/from track driving too. Just be prepped for a lot of squeal. Both are dusty as they should so be aware of that as well.
I run Pagid yellows, and yeah, they love to squeal when they're cold. Cold, as in, like you said, not at track driving operating temperature. Occasional street driving is loud, but I don't concern myself with that.
Not only is the yellow pad performance better at the track, but they are Pagid's "endurance" pad, so, at least compared to stock, they last a good deal longer too. Performance and durability are easily worth a little noise to me.
Cracks in front brake pads, approx 15k & 2 years on them. Raybestos Element3 Hybrid Tech.
So I mentioned to Mike at GiroDisc (who is great btw) that I was in the market for pads, and he recommended Raybestos ST43s, which get great reviews. So I went with them, but two events ago they put deposits on the rotors so bad the car shook like mad after a few laps. I still had the HT-10s with me, so I swapped them, they wiped the deposits off and I was back in business for the day.
