I've used hawk hp plus with a CSL rotor setup for about a decade now and have been very happy. They fit my needs well.
Hawk ER1. They’re fantastic.
I went with hawk 5.0 pads, they dust wayyyyy less than stock. Bite and stopping power feels just as good.
I run Hawk HP+ on the street, they do not seem to need heat to work. There is some dusting but little noise and they don't seem to eat through rotors.
I've been running the Hawk 5.0s on a bunch of cars. I like them, they've even held up to a couple track days. Lots of dust but I think that just comes with the territory of performance pads.
I was overheating mine and switched to Hawk HPS 5.0. I’ve only run them in the street so far but they fit that role fine.
I use Hawk 5.0 with centric 120’rotors. Minimal dust, no noise. Cold performance friendly but enough room in the temp range. So I can beat on it at auto X but still Street friendly.
They are absolutely not track pads. They fill this awkward in-between in which they have the coefficient of friction and modulation of good aggressive street pads but also dust and make tons of noise in street usage.
I have installed Porsche calipers 996.352.425/6 calipers on the front of my MK1 TT with stock sized 12.3" discs with Hawk HPS pads and SS lines.
when i bought my girling 60 setup the seller threw in a set of mintex red box pads.....i hate them. i was never impressed with the red box's in other cars but on my setup they squealed like crazy when i was off the brakes. i too had the issue with the pads overhanging into the center of the rotor but i took a rolox disc on a die grinder and took a little off the inner portion of the pads. even after doing that they still squeal. plus theyre a real dirty pad and after about 10k miles i only have about 50% pad life left.
