Brake pads R1 Concepts or Hawk Performance
I emailed HAWK over two weeks ago. They thanked my for my contact and query, but haven't responded with a suggested product. I've been running their pads on my Mk6R and have been very pleased with the lack of brake dust and the bite of the braking.
HAWK Pads are top notch
Zimmerman rotors and Hawk HPS 5.0 pads on all four corners. Not the first time I've used Hawks like these, but they feel pretty good so far. Using Motul 600 fluid.
I prefer Hawk Truck pads. Been using them on my tree for 20 years. Get good life out of them. Check pad wear. Mine squeak under light braking when dusty.
I have R1 on now all around and no issues since.
Hawk Street 5.0 have been better at stopping than stock, lasted over 25k miles with about 60% left, and have dramatically less dusting than stock.
I run stop tech rotors/hawk HP plus pads/motul high temp/and goodrich SS lines on my m coupe and that’s also a great, much less expensive set up.
Running the R1 concept with ceramic pads now and have no issues. They bite a lot better then the stock setup I had on it before.
I've used hawk hp+ all last year and my first event of this year; they do serve as a pretty good intermediate pad, if I were you I'd go after something similar to it or slightly more track-oriented, but as I understand it the "HPS" pads are not designed for track use, more of just a capable street pad. The HP+ feel great for street driving, but be aware that they do create a fuckton of dust, and oftentimes they squeal like a school bus as you come to a stop. On track, I'd say they do fine for a beginner. I tend to brake on the early side and not as hard as I could, it's an area where I could certainly improve. I have noticed some brake fade at my most recent event, and for that reason I will be installing some G-loc r8's tomorrow, with a backup set of R12's for the front.
Yeah wish I knew this before I put them on this weekend. Brand new wheels lol. I’ve been wiping them down every night
