Engine oil LIQUI MOLY or VALVOLINE
I've seen good results online.
For 2 dollars more than the regular high mileage offering, I figured it was worth the risk.
I am doing a couple of oil changes with it (1k, 2.5k, 5k), and am hoping to see some evidence of it working on my 190k Mazda 3.
I have finished 1 oil change at 4k miles on a 2014 impreza that the previous owner religiously changed at 8k miles with cheap oil and cheap filters. My MPG improved a little and oil consumption went from 1 qt every 1k miles to 1 qt at 3k miles. I also commute 54 miles daily so the oil wasnt in the car that long. I "feel" like its doing something.
Running it in my Subaru outback 2.5 with 50k miles. I noticed a difference in the first 1k miles.
Better compression and better mileage (2 to 3 mpg!) a lot quieter!
Also running it in Subaru outback 2.4 turbo with 30k miles. A bit better. Not huge. But noticing.
Also a lot quieter!
I had oil burning issues even with 10W-40 in my high mileage 325.\nMy mechanic put in LiquiMoly 10W-60, which seems to be much better.
Nah. I have a 2006 Merc 4.0. 183K. I run high mileage Valvoline 10W-30 oil. My Merc does not burn oil. Runs great.
Valvoline Restore and Protect. This newly designed oil can, and does, remove up to 100% of engine deposits. Including those found on and around the piston rings. A major contributing factor to oil blow-by, or general usage between oil changes. It take a couple 4k mile oil changes to work. Everything I have researched shows that it does work and many, most even, report a significant reduction in burning oil between oil changes, but do your own research! :) I wasn't having oil burning issues in my 8th gen, but still ran it through a couple times because it certainly won't hurt anything!
5w-30. I use LiquiMoly Molygen and my experience is good.
Assuming you don’t have an obvious oil leak, which at that rate it would be, the best you can do is try to switch to Valvoline Restore and Protect oil. It’s getting rave reviews for its ability to clean piston rings on bobistheoilguy.
All in all, that engine oil is expensive, holy liqui moly
when they were done my GLI it felt GREAT driving it home until me engine oil sky rocketed to 238 degrees…never seen oil that hot in my life and majorrrrrr lag…i thought it was done. put my hazards on pulled over got it towed back to my house then i started it back up and it was running just fine.
