Engine oil Mobil or MOTUL
At around 60k the car really began consuming oil (1qt every 2000 miles or so). I used to use regular 5w-30 oil, and then switched to Pennzoil full synthetic 5w-30, which didn't help the problem at all, and maybe even made it worse. Finally, i switched to Mobil 1 0w-40 and all consumption has basically come to an end. I've not had to put a drop in it after 1500 miles and its at the same level as the last oil change.
Thus far (only 10,000 miles into the game), I have been rather surprised that I have not had to add a drop of oil yet to my 2010 2.0 TSI. Drove with the DSG in Sport mode during break-in (in an effort to keep the revs up a bit, and encourage more range in the shift points), drained the factory fill at 1400 miles, and have been using Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40 since then (changed out at 6,000 and 10,000 miles).
I've done mine every 6k, with Motul 5W-40 Specific and an OEM filter. It's pretty damn black when I take it out.
Motul x-cess. It cut my consumption down from just under 2qt/5000mi to under 1qt/5000mi.
i also switched to the mobile 1 0w-40 and dont burn any in my 2.0t
Mobil 1 0W-40 is what I use; had 0 oil consumption problems w/ stock pcv.
Of course this is assuming you're using really good oil, something like Mobil1 ESP 5W-30 or at least the Castrol LL03 VW507.
I took my car to the dealer to drain the factory fill oil at 1400 miles and have Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40 oil added, they also did "Updated software level, performed 24R9 Recall"
After a vigorous break-in and draining the factory fill oil at 1409 miles, added Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40 and then drove on a 5000 mile vacation from Wisconsin to the Pacific Northwest and back.
My TDI is now at 5000 miles, and per my personal preference I changed the oil. It is very simple with an oil extractor. Start to finish will take less than 20 minutes. This is a fast and simple way to change the oil and stay clean.
