I’ve got Mishimoto’s X-Line radiator. It’s an absolute beast of a rad. I’ve had mine for 7 years of daily driving and track days, and I’ve had zero problems with it. I fully expect it to last for the life of my M3.

Not everyone has great things to say about Mishimoto rads, but from what I can tell their X-Line rads are built very well.

Pros: absolute beast, zero problems, built well, long lasting

With that taken care of reliability concerns would be pretty minimal and the core itself should be an improvement. I even confirmed with Mishimoto, in writing, that modifying the quick connects would NOT void my lifetime warranty with them.

Pros: improves cooling
Cons: gamble, core leaks
Vehicle: Volkswagen Passat B6

MISHIMOTO Engine radiator

The Mishimoto all aluminum radiator (2 core) started leaking this past January (86k miles) in the top left corner (if you are facing the grill). From what I can tell with reviews, I was lucky to get 18k miles on that radiator.

Cons: started leaking, short lifespan
Vehicle: Jeep
Mileage: 28968 km

OEM BMW Engine radiator

The white tank has never been the issue for me, leaks are always in the radiator frame surrounding that tank. Somewhere at the bottom, probably where the lower hose goes. The plastic is brittle crap and it develops micro-fractures that become cracks over time.

Cons: brittle plastic, develops cracks

  • Overheating:

Two months ago I installed a Mishimoto radiator. Now im consistently mid 190's, temp goes to 205 regularly, and then fans come on and cools back down.

Cons: higher operating temperature
