Oil filter Fram or AMSOIL
The orange can of death is only for 3,000 miles!!! Do the ultra synthetic, 20k mile filter. Haven't had a problem with them. I but in bulk as much as possible.
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Fram Ultra Synthetic (XG10060). OEM Mopar air filters for cabin and engine. I also add 15oz bottle BioTech Lubegard in oil. Just did mine, love the results. 2021 Rebel, 60k miles, 5.7L non-e torque if it matters.
Whatever is available. Preferably penzoil or Mobil 1. I’ve used castrol, no issues. But all oil is the same ????????♂️ I also use the fram filter (the synthetic one that has the steel mesh wrapped around the filter paper)
I dont dont get all the hate for fram. We use them at work on the fleet trucks, ive always used them on my own oil changes and air filters. Like 10ish years of using them and seeing them be used and ive never seen one fail. And same with castrol oil, i use it and we use it at work and have never had any motor issues.
The only time we dont use frams is when we are out of stock and dont have time to order or fram doesnt make it.
The high end Fram Ultra is probably the best filter you can get. It filters very fine particles that other brands simply don't. While not a fan of Fram filters, the high end ultra filter has nothing to do with the cheaper ones and is a very good filter. It does reduce oil pressure a bit, but that won't matter unless your engine is about to die. But as far as actual filtration, you will have a hard time finding another filter that will filter as well as that one.
I've seen Fram oil filters cause this, but in your photo, it appears you have a black Mann/Mahle/Bosch/VW filter on it
I think I tried using a Fram filter on my '99 truck once, and the filter was designed ever so slightly differently and as a result I lost all my oil in a week.
Wal-mart typically only stocks the Fram filter (gross) for my truck. FRAM (avoid) is PH2. All of them are fine except Fram, unless you are in a pinch.
I certainly would never put in a Fram and would highly recommend to anyone to stay away from that company for your German product.
I just watched an interesting video on Fram and other filters last night. Part of the problem is that Fram doesn't use a normal bypass spring in case the filter gets clogged, and can lead to starving the engine for oil. It's also just a really crappy filter.
