Oil filter Fram or Motorcraft
For oil filter, I run the same one on my 302 and 390: Motorcraft FL-1A. I believe it is (or was, at least) made by Purolator and is my go-to for my old Ford V8s.
I still prefer to use the Fram Tough Guard TH3614 bc the grip tip. Makes it easier to remove.
I don't get the enthusiasm as they also sell the Fram endurance filter which is much better than OEM in terms of filtration.
Honda filters are just relabeled FRAM Orange can filters. I step it up and use FRAM Ultra synthetic. Same particulate filtration but better quality and synthetic media.
I use fram filters, full synthetic 5w-20, for the last 150k miles. Total cost is like $25 at walmart. I am right at 210k miles now with oil changes EVERY 5k miles.
Runs good, but burns a quart by 5k miles.
Not Fram, never Fram, if you like poor quality filters that are rusty out of the box go with Fram but if you like your engine do not go with Fram
I used a Fram filter on my VW and it developed a knocking ticking sound lol. Switched it out for a Mann and it was fine.
I’ve worked on Subarus for over 20 years now and almost every blowed engine has a fram oil filter on it. Easily 75%
Using a cheap (fram) oil filter is a recipe for disaster, because those filters fail internally, and either go into bypass mode, or the internals of the filter grenade, and go directly into the crankshaft bearings.
Stay away from fram as the name is just ruined in many peoples eyes. I wouldn't buy something for good money with fram on it.
