Fram Oil filter

I always change my own engine air filter, cabin filter, and until recently the oil and filter (I'm also partial to Fram). The cabin filter is sooooo much easier to change that on my first Honda - 1989 Accord.

Pros: easier to change

Fram Oil filter

We ran only Fram (PH-8A) on our 1971 Ford LTD until the 1990s when we sold the car with 230K miles on it, and it had just started a light main crank bearing knock.

Pros: lasted 230k miles
Cons: light knock at end
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 230000 km
Part number: PH-8A

Fram Oil filter

I use the Fram Synthetic Endurance. It’s a super high quality filter blessed by all the cognescenti at bobistheoilguy.com.???? Definitely not the Fram orange cans from years ago.

Pros: super high quality

Same on my 1.8l Cruze using a FRAM filter. no light but it built up enough pressure it blew the oil cooler seal. Milage went from 6.5l per 100 to 12.5l per 100k

Pros: bought OEM filters
Cons: blew the oil cooler seal
Vehicle: Chevrolet Cruze

Fram Oil filter

Not Fram, never Fram, if you like poor quality filters that are rusty out of the box go with Fram but if you like your engine do not go with Fram

Cons: poor quality, rusty out of box

Fram Oil filter

I used a Fram filter on my VW and it developed a knocking ticking sound lol. Switched it out for a Mann and it was fine.

Pros: Mann filter was fine
Cons: knocking ticking sound
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Using a cheap (fram) oil filter is a recipe for disaster, because those filters fail internally, and either go into bypass mode, or the internals of the filter grenade, and go directly into the crankshaft bearings.

Cons: filters fail internally
