Oil filter Wix or Motorcraft
Wix is considered to be good, and it’s not expensive and readily available (can walk into local O’Reilly and buy off the shelf). Subaru OEM works if you’re close to a dealership or think to order it; I never remember to order and my local dealer is terrible, so I avoid them.
Stick with the wix, rebuilders of rotory engine's suggest that brand alone. Given the necessity of the filtration needed for those engines, that's all I use for k20, 404xxxkm and running strong!
The WIX oil filer still included all the gaskets and a copper crush washer.
Pennzoil and a wix filter, 30 bucks total and 10 minutes of my time.
Then go buy a Wix. Or go to the dealer. Leave the cheap stuff (and Fram) on the shelf.
The motorcraft filters I've seen for fords have the pressure relief at the end that screws on, top in most cases. Most others have it at the bottom. Since crud settles to the bottom if that relief opens with the relief at the bottom its gonna send that crud into the engine.
Engine is running smooth as butter and gets over 30 mpg on the freeway, so she seems to be fine with it
For my 2010 3.0L V6 Fusion I loaded up on the Havoline Pro-DS full synthetic 6quart eco boxes in the 0w20, 5w20, and 5w30 viscosities and always run a Motorcraft FL-500S filter.
My 315k mile powerstroke goes 7500 with no noticeable wear with motorcraft filters
I use a Wix 57356XP filters and Mobil 1.
