Oil filter Wix or Motorcraft
I use Motorcraft Full Synthetic (or Castrol Edge Full Synthetic). The oil filter is Motorcraft OEM. Everything gets changed every 5,000 miles.
Motorcraft filters use a silicone anti drain back valve ADBV. Cheapos use rubber ones that get hard in the cold and don’t seal. If they don’t seal oil leaks out of the hydraulic chain tensioners and they aren’t pressurized when the engine starts, so the chain isn’t tensioned and it rattles for a second against the plastic guide before oil pressure comes back.
I use Mobile 1, 5/30 in my F150 EcoBoost...287K on it. Change every 6K . And I am an absolute believer in OEM filters. My new Bronco gets the same treatment. Don't skimp on the filter.
I like using the Wix longbois on my Camry feels like you’re getting more filter
I’ve long done 7500 oil change intervals for my naturally aspirated cars, and I’m sticking to 5000 in my turbocharged Subaru now, always with synthetic (Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, and a Wix XP oil filter).
Don't do 10k oil changes. Stick to 5k with OEM filter, Upgrated QX80/GTR filter or WIX Filter.
While Ford said you can use 5-20 I know where I live it gets warmer than 86 degrees so in my F150 I run 5-30 or 10/40.
I’ve had no issues with synth and have 255k on it.
Also…I would recommend a Motorcraft filter.
WIX 57202. hands down the best filter
I think WIX changed their manufacturing process because the one I bought appears to be plastic tack'd to the main housing now, and the ring breaks off when taking the old filter off.
Stay away from Motorcraft filters, they are aweful.
