I personally have been a Bilstien H&R fan since my first mk4 Frankingolf where I tore down and rebuilt a 4 door golf into a 4 door gti. Have stuck with that combo ever since and that is the ONLY thing that has always worked according to plan.
Bilstein are awesome- but the price is not. I put a set on a 2000 F150 4x4 that I once had and couldn’t believe how much better the truck drove.
The oranges are similar to yellows on full soft, but with a bit less low speed compression damping IIRC (basically, a bit more comfort oriented). They're a great way to get a better quality shock at a lower price point.
I can still rip sweepers at 120mph like my friend with Bilstein B6's, but my car rides so much better over the small uneven bits of pavement.
Just put on a new set of Bilstein 4600's and am liking it. Feels stock and back to new again. Not too stiff, but certainly not squishy like the old worn ones.
I am running Koni special active on my 2018 Alltrack, which is also riding on Golf R Estate springs. I like the ride, firm but not harsh. I had them installed after driving a friend's Alltrack that had the Koni special actives.
I just did Bilsteins on my 2500 burb. They work great.
Yes B4's should help.
Drader has swapped for B6s in the rear of his Alltrack so has 1st hand experience with it's effects.
Koni Sports on full soft aren't bad. I had them paired with DG springs and recently went back to OEM. I was really dissapointed. The small fraction of comfort I regained did not make up for the loss of performance or loss of aesthetics. The car actually rode smoother with the DG/Koni set up.
