Spark plug Autolite or BRISK
Since spark plugs don’t cost that much I played around with a few. My 05 TJ like the Autolite APP985 the best. Hated the NGK ZF5RN the most.
Cylinder Misfires started on #2, progressed to all, replaced all spark plugs and all spark plug wires. Cylinder misfires now gone. Spark plugs and spark plug wires all in bad condition
About 6 weeks ago I finally changed the spark plugs. So I put somewhere near 180,000 miles on a set of Autolite spark plugs. Two of the spark plugs the center electrode was completely gone. I don't know how the fuck the engine ran and I certainly don't know how it did not throw a code , it still ran very smoothly even at idle.
I've used Autolite plugs in the 2.0's I've owned for over 20 years now because I think they work the best of the ones I've tried with this engine.
What plugs you're using may help. In my experience not all plugs are created equal. Brisk, for example, last maybe 5-10k miles before they're garbage. Whereas I can run NGKs for 15k+.
Brisk silver er10s if you need 2 steps colder. I had the ngk plugs, but they wore down just as fast and are more expensive. Brisk silver are like 10 bucks
Don't use AutoLite plugs in this car, they are known to have issues.
Also, Autolite is extra terrible. I would have done anything else.
Local mechanic used an Autolite plug, not Honda-recommended NGK. Misfires stopped for a month, then happened twice more. I have since discovered this brand does not run well in a Honda engine.
I changed my plugs to autolite because I had never heard anything bad about them. I replaced them after 3 weeks due to misfires, put another set of autolites in and it ran fine for 2 weeks. Started misfiring again and swapped in a set of NGK's, no problems since.
