Strut assembly Monroe or KONI
Monroe is usually pretty good aftermarket but Motorcraft is owned by ford and is likely the most similar to what’s already on the vehicle for ya. It’s no race car or anything I would say the Monroe quick struts would be just fine! They’re still a big brand and for stock replacements I’ve never had a complaint
Red is a great upgrade if you're keeping the factory ride height, they ride MUCH better than the factory Bilsteins.
Just purchased a set of front Koni STR.T for my Son's 08 C30 T5 2.0 M66. Bilstein are in the back. Had the resources to upgrade suspension parts in the late 80's and Koni has been the best thus far compared to Bilstein, Gabriel, KYB and Monroe on various makes.
They make Koni Yellows for the MK1. I loved them on my Corrado SLC. The Koni Yellows for the Corrado SLC were entire struts for the front. I set them right in the middle on stock springs. They were comfortable and it handled as well as my '78 Scirocco on +0 wheels and tires. I like that you could tighten them up if you wanted them stiffer or soften them for a cushy ride. Right in the middle was comfortable on the potholed streets of Hampton Roads but it still cornered like it was on rails.
Monroe quick struts are what I used. Already assembled and took no time to replace.
I have 2013 accord cp and replaced all four struts from monroe (oespectrum) with the stock spring. The ride is comfortable but the suspension feels abit busy on harsher road conditions.
I used Monroe struts on my 2005 Corolla... They’re good. Nothin amazing but if your current struts are really bad you’ll notice a big difference.
Also Monroe easy struts are shit. I regret installing them. My brand new ones make creaking noises, have lower ride height, and bottom out on big bumps.
It’s pretty high, also I don’t like those quick struts from Monroe.
I’m late to the thread but those looking for answers I do not recommend Monroe. Grabbed both of the ones listed here and lasted me all of 30,000 miles and that’s me being generous. I recommend motorcraft as that’s oem and not much of a price difference
