I have used Aisin kits every time on the several (near 10) timing belt replacements I have paid for over 25 years of owning Honda V6s, the Aisin parts work great, no issues.

Pros: parts work great, no issues
Vehicle: Honda

That looks like the one I put on mine. you’re always safest going with the oem part (aisin in this case) especially for a kit of this kind.

Pros: OEM quality, safest choice

AISIN Timing belt

Get an AISIN timing belt kit with water pump. Uses OE parts. Don’t use gates, dayco, and esp not no name timing belt kits.

Pros: Uses OE parts
Cons: Don’t use gates, dayco

OEM Volkswagen Timing belt

Glad you used lock tools. You could always reinstall tools to check. But if pin was in crank and bar installed hard to screw that one up for belt.

Pros: used lock tools

Be sure to buy an Aisin timing belt and water pump kit. If it has an automatic transmission, replace the radiator as well or add an external transmission cooler.

For my vehicle, a VW Tiguan 2018 2.0L 4Motion diesel SEL model, I opted to replace the timing/Axillary belts (due to a squeal noise) at 36,000 miles. As shown in the attached photographs, the timing and auxiliary belts were showing signs of wear.

Pros: replaced due to squeal noise
Cons: belts showing signs of wear
Vehicle: Volkswagen Tiguan
Mileage: 57936 km

When I checked my belt at 60k miles I found it was very loose. Loose enough that I checked the camshaft timing to be sure it hadn't jumped at all. The engine ran a lot better after I adjusted the belt tension.

Pros: engine ran better
Cons: belt was very loose
Mileage: 96560 km

My original timing belt assy failed at 87,0000 miles at just over 8 years. I think it might have been the tensioner failing that actually caused it. Luckily alll I had to do was pay for the timing belt replacement and VW covered the head replacement.

Pros: VW covered head replacement
Cons: timing belt assembly failed
Vehicle: Volkswagen Passat
Mileage: 140013 km
