Continental Tires

I had the R3’s and couldn’t tell a difference from those and the R2’s that came on the SL6. Then I switched to the Continental GP5000’s and it’s just a night and day tire. I’ll never go back.

Pros: night and day tire

I have an emonda and I’m running the contis, really really like them, it may be my imagination, but the tubeless makes a nice difference to road vibration.

Pros: nice difference to vibration

I’ve got a 2021 Edmonda sl5 with the Aeolus pro 51 and upgraded to the gp5000 28mm and they were a great upgrade compared to the r1 it came with…

another one for DWS06+. I put them on my Passat this past spring. They are absolutely comfortable. I don't believe there is much noise from them; maybe I'm unaware or maybe i dont look for it? But I can certainly attest for the comfort and grip. They are still on my car, and we've had some 1*C weather these past few mornings. Still very grippy when quickly merging out of side streets, and grippy when taking onramps. Had previous experience with DWS06 on my old 3G TL. Really liked them then also. That was the only car i've owned and didnt have dedicated winter tires for. The DWS were great in the winter time, and gave me no trouble in souther ontario winters.

Pros: absolutely comfortable, good grip, great in winter

I replaced the garbage Michelin Primacy A/S stock tires with the Continental DWS06+ in the stock size. My reasoning for not putting dedicated winter tires on this time around is: 1) We don’t get a ton of snow here in Chicago area, and even less than normal the last few years. When we do get snow, the roads by me are generally cleared pretty quickly. 2) I work from home now, so rarely would I need to go anywhere if there was a freak blizzard. 3) Got tired of doing the twice yearly wheel/tire swap, having to store them in my already small one car garage, the expense of purchasing a second set of tires and wheels, etc.. The + version supposedly addressed some of the previous shortcomings such as soft sidewalls, noise, etc..

Pros: addressed shortcomings

MICHELIN Tires

I have the Pilot A/S 3+ on my A5. Love them. Had them on my Golf R too. I'm generally a diehard Michelin tire guy, but the improvement of the DWS06+ over the Pilot Sport AS4 might make me switch were I need tires today.

Pros: love them

The summer tires are Continental ContiSportContact Contiseal. That last part -- the Contiseal -- makes it a runflat. Apparently the tire is filled with some kind of goop that seals punctures.

Pros: seals punctures, runflat

Hey, no these Continental DWS 06's are quite good in snow, not sure why any of the car nerds on here would even doubt their ability. I've driven them in 6/8/10" of snow before and have never had any issue--though I'm driving a 4Motion Golf.

Pros: quite good in snow, no issues

I went with the AS3+ because of the good wet braking and wet grip over the competition. It could be just me but Goodyear tires seem to wander sideways on the highway a lot. I notice I have to pay more attention to keep the vehicle centered in the lane.

Pros: good wet braking, good wet grip
Cons: wanders sideways on highway

I have Michelin Xi3's. I can't recommend them if you care about your car's performance at all. If you don't GAF then these are fine. Probably ideal for a Prius. They work fine in snow, the brakes work on ice, and the ride is alright. That's all the praise I can give them.

Pros: work fine in snow, brakes work on ice
Cons: poor performance, not recommended
