I have been a big fan of Nexen tires for some time... Sent two kids to college on them in the Dakotas where conditions can be less than ideal. And we have used their winter tires, performance tires, and truck tires as well and I can say I don't really have any negatives to say for the price... They are solid, budget tires in the same league as Cooper, General, Falken, and Yokohama... They are not Michelins or Bridgestones, but they don't try to be either.
Altimax RT45/43 is the best budget tires around, however it's not a match against Bridgestone WeatherPeak.
I also used to have a 2008 Nissan Frontier. I had General Grabber AT-Xs on that truck. Decently comfortable, good load rating (I used that truck for towing), rated for snow, and the tread was good for the light offroading I did. Although being an offroad tire with a somewhat aggressive tread, it was noisy at highway speeds. I didn't really mind, but others might.
The Generals on my car are worlds better than the Pirellis on it before.
The Pirelli P1s were so loud you couldn't have a conversation on the highway, so lacking in grip that a 150hp car could spin the tires in dry conditions. After I went sideways on some wet concrete, I replaced them with General Exclaim tires - their 'sporty' all seasons, all of $50 each from Walmart. It grips like a race car, is quiet and smooth, and tire life is close.
General is good. I have Evertrek GTs on my car, they seem to be a pretty good tire.
Check out Generals Altimax line of tires, I have them on my shitbox beater and they’ve been serving me well for 20,000 miles
I only put Generals on my Jetta and BMW. LOVE THE G-Max for price and handling.
I have the older version RT43's in my Lexus ES300 - they run really well but I will probably replace them in the next 2 years
I've driven 65.000km and I'm through one set of Continental All Season Contact 1 and one set of Nexen.
The all season contact lasted for 35.000km the Nexen one for two summer.
I've been disappointed overall in the tire.
