Tires Nokia or GENERAL TIRE
I’ve owned 5 sets of Nokian tires and never a single issue with dry rot.
I went with Nokian outpost APTs. only had them for a few weeks and they handle just as well as the road tires I had on previously.
I would recommend the General g max AS 05 or newer AS 07. They're pretty affordable and are great all seasons. On Tirerack you can see the ratings and can get them pretty cheap there as well. I've had those on my old ES 350 and recently on my 2022 Camry SE after the oem tires became unbearably loud and wore out at 40k miles.
The Nokian lasts so Long been using it since 2001 in Minnesota and now it's 2024. Rubber and studs like new. Best money I ever spent.
I used to like Blizzaks, then I tried the Nokian Hakkapeliittas and found they worked better for me in Wisconsin winters.
I used General Tire Altimax 12 studded tires on my 2017 VW Golf Sportwagen for the 4 winters that I lived in central Maine and absolutely loved them. Great winter tire especially for the price.
I had the Nokian all-season snow rated tires years ago on my Subaru STi, in the midwest, as my winter tire and loved them. They were not as soft as snow tires and performed very well in frigid temps on dry and wet surface, with the occasional heavy snow.
I like the Altimax on my Passat.
I’ve had WRG4s on my Alltrack for a year and a few months now. Good tires, just too soft for summer highway driving. Very quiet and comfortable ride with great grip on snow. They’re almost as soft as winter tires and as a result wear very quick. I ordered a set of Nokian One a couple days ago. They seem very promising as a premium touring tire with a 720 treadwear rating with projected treadlife of 80k. Figured I can give up some winter traction for a longer tread life and better dry handling.
I had G-2, G-3 and now G-4. but experiencing dry rot on the G-4's and can't keep them balanced--shimmy at certain speeds even when balanced, and they are getting noisier and noisier--thought I had a wheel hub issue.
