Water pump AISIN or OEM FORD
Just wanted to update the community that it took me about 1.5 hours with me taking things slow to change the water pump on my Kentucky made 2018 Camry SE with 165 miles. I changed the water pump with an Aisin model with a new seal as well as drained and refilled the coolant. From what I understand there is a tsb about a false positive water pump error but in my case it was a part failure. After replacement the check engine code went away on its own immediately on first start.
The aisin on amazon might ship faster ? I would go Aisin tho
The OEM water pump is indeed prone to failure after 100k miles and is easy to replace. It will absolutely cause the death rattle.
The AISIN WPT-190 I bought on Amazon for $142 was was legit OEM. AISIN box etc. Toyota was scratched off the unit as expected.
AISIN WPT-190 is $143 on Amazon. Directly comparing it with one from bought from dealer. Aside from the box, they look identical with the same plastic wrap.
The water pump is probably the one part on any car I wouldn't cheap out on. Just get an Aisin as the other commenter said.
Trying to replace my water pump on my 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0L (flex fuel). I can’t find a video that performs this repair on my model; 4cylinders and v6 4.0 yes, but not the 3.0. There’s 12 bolts on the WPump, 11 are EZPZ, one is behind something else. I’ve got everything off except for one bolt that is stuck behind the “mount” for the pulley tensioner/AC compressor. It’s not the power steering pump, it’s not the AC compressor, and it’s not the pulley tensioner - *it’s what all 3 of these things are mounted too.* I’ve loosened 3 bolts that seem to mount this “mount” to the engine block, but I must be missing 1+, as it won’t budge.
I had the same issue with the same Ford motor 3.7 in my Mazda Cx9, it is internal water pump
I had one go bad on my Ford flex... The pump is inside the timing chain cover. Most places have to drop the engine, I got lucky and the place I went the guy was able to do it without removing the engine.
The 3.5 engine is garage with this design. Had an Edge from new and out 150,000 miles on it in 13 years. I was always dreading this failure and luckily dodged it before selling it.
