MICHELIN Tires

Rating 4.0
  • Grip:

Cross climates are excellent, had many sets in my accord hybrid, but be prepared for a slight range hit. I haven’t run the pirelli scorpions, but from what other folks say the performance is solid, not cross climate level in the snow, but competent. However, they are quieter overall.

Pros: solid performance, competent
Cons: slight range hit

OEM Honda Brake pads

2013-2015 have axle recalls…they’ll get fix free but you’ll need to invest in wheel hubs on the front due to the axles failing it’ll mess up the wheel hubs. Also the sensor on the battery it’s something about sending the correct volts to the alternator that’s a big issue and could cause electrical fires. Was also a recall. Besides that just check the car undercarriage for surface rust on calipers they fail a lot due to abunch of surface rust and debris getting into it over time and it’ll act like it’s seized up but really all the grease is just gone over time. Get good quality ceramic pads these cars squeal like a pig with the cheap ones. Also valve cover gasket is a must always will leak eventually every 30k miles or so. Best bet is getting a 2016 &up tbh

Pros: ceramic pads prevent squeal
Cons: cheap pads squeal

OEM Honda Timing belt

Look for an older Honda accord with a manual transmission (MT). MT cars were made in Japan and last forever. I had a 1999 MT Accord and put over 600,000 miles on it. I changed the timing belt every 100K and kept newer tires on it.

Pros: last forever, newer tires
Mileage: 965606 km

OEM Honda CVT transmission

Regarding the DRL: I took mine to the dealer for the DRL swap but the light wasn’t borked enough yet so they couldn’t do it. The ten-year warranty is from the date of delivery so keep that in mind for your specific Accord; mine is at the end of this March, they can search it (as others have said) by VIN.

If going for the CVT, ensure around 100k miles that the transmission fluid gets drained and refilled. Really, aside from that, routine maintenance that you’d do on any car will keep it going till the end of time. If I had to guess on the weakest link in the chain it’d be the CVT, but I still trust it to last.

Pros: trust it to last
Cons: weakest link
Vehicle: Honda Accord
Mileage: 100000 km

Bosch Wiper blades
Firerain
Rating 4.0
  • Wipe quality:

If they’re running Bosch Aerotwins, they care about their car. If they’re running shitty no-names and the wiper blades are worn out, they probably don’t care about more important maintenance.

Pros: Bosch Aerotwins indicate care
Cons: shitty no-names indicate neglect

  • Uneven wear:

I’ve had a 2016 Touring 6-6 since new and overall it’s been pretty solid. I’ve had two brake calipers seize and parking brake seized as well. Otherwise no issues mechanically other than regular maintenance. 76,000km

Pros: solid mechanically
Cons: brake calipers seized
Vehicle: Honda Accord
Mileage: 76000 km

OEM Honda Steering rack

I have a ‘23 Accord Sport L and I hate it. I mean it’s nice and all, but everything is just so bleh. No soul, it is an appliance. With that said I’ve done 55k miles in about a year and half with no issues. Steering rack or bushings just started making some noise I gotta bring it in. I hear steering racks are an issue on them.

Pros: no issues, nice car
Cons: steering rack noise
Vehicle: Honda Accord
Mileage: 88513 km

NGK Spark plug
Comprehensive-Sun-84
Rating 1.0
  • Idle:
  • Acceleration:

The only things it’s done to me is die (dead battery) and a misfire that cause it to go into limp mode at 118k miles (I went cheap on spark plugs instead of doing NGK’s)

Cons: caused misfire, limp mode
Mileage: 118000 km
