OEM Nissan Alternator

Rating 5.0
  • Warning light:

I purchased a 2002 Nissan Quest alternator for my 2002 Xterra. It bolts right up. 120 amps instead of 80 amps.

Pros: bolts right up, higher amps

XYG Windshield

XYG is a very common budget replacement windshield. There's a lot negative things said about them, but I had an XYG windshield put in my truck and I have no complaints. There's no distortion in the glass, unlike my last windshield. Maybe I just got lucky.

Pros: no distortion in glass
Cons: durability unknown

FEDERAL Tires

I use them on my 240sx, if you are just autocrossing for fun and to gain experience they are great, but not competitive compared to other tires legal in street/stock classes.

Pros: great for fun, gain experience
Cons: not competitive

Hankook Tires
bdavis89
Rating 4.0
  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:

Ran the V12s on my 370z and they were fine, with longer tread life than PSS (on that car anyways). Hankook is a solid brand, and unless you track your car, etc. just save the money for something else.

Pros: longer tread life

OEM Nissan Alternator
InsomniacZ32
Rating 5.0
  • Warning light:

I'm a little biased towards the Z32- Winter mode Summer wheels I love how it drives, feels and looks. ~80k miles since 2003 I've replaced the alternator a couple times, high pressure power steering hose, a couple injectors, the clutch twice and many tires.

Pros: love how it drives
Vehicle: Nissan
Mileage: 128747 km

K&N Air filter

K&N if it's available. Million mile warranty, and never need to purchase another filter... ever. All you have to do is every few months take it out and clean it, then spray with the recharging oil and reinstall. I've had one on every single vehicle I've ever owned. The HP and MPG gains are smaller than advertised, but still noticeable.

Pros: million mile warranty, reusable, noticeable gains
Cons: gains smaller than advertised
Vehicle: Nissan

Firestone Tires
01tj
Rating 3.5
  • Grip:

I ended up with the firestones. I know they are not the best winter tire but I'd take them over an A/T in the winter. I got my moneys worth the day I put them on because we got a decent "wet" snow storm and the main road out of our neighborhood was closed do to an accident as usual. I had to take a alternate rout which is a steep curvy 1 lane road and I was one of the few to make it all they way out without spending time in the ditch or guardrails.

Pros: got my moneys worth
Cons: not the best
Vehicle: Nissan
Mileage: 34000 km

OEM Nissan Timing chain
lccat
Rating 0.5
  • Rattle:
  • Starting:

Year two, 60k miles, I get a rattle. Annoying at first but soon the radio can't even drown it out. Drive performance gets "pretty bad" - the car has no get-up and go. Diagnosis: two cylinders operating at low performance, noise loudest at timing chain, needs a new engine. The tech noticed I'm over the estimated 3,750 miles for oil change, so probably the cause is "sludge" in the engine due to MY poor maintenance. Estimated costs of service: $8,655.83. I have discovered tons of consumer reviews - particularly about the 2011 Juke - indicating the same problem I'm having but in particular, the timing chain was defective and their engines had to be replaced. Many articles were hoping for a recall of the timing chain soon. The service guys says "well, yes, all of this has to do with the timing chain but really the cause is sludge."

Cons: premature failure, loud rattle, poor performance, engine damage
Vehicle: Nissan Juke
Mileage: 60000 km
