The CrossClimate2 is an incredible tire that beats everything else in its class. Look at the reviews online, it's amazing and worth every penny. The Kumhos aren't nearly as good.
Reviews of spare parts for Subaru
Trust me, the Michelin Cross Climate 2's are a fantastic tire, do well in all kinds of weather and just make the car feel more planted.
If I was paying for it out of pocket, I would run with a non OEM windshield from Pilkington. They are a premium auto glass manufacturer with better performing glass for UV protection, cooling, sound and durability.
Safelite did mine last month for $950 all in. Pilkington glass.
Get some continentals, love those tires
If your roads get plowed and you’ll only deal with 2” of snow at most, then the DWS06+ or Pilot AS4 are the way to go. The DWS handle wet a lot better than the AS4. The AS4 handles dry a little bit better than the DWS, and rides a bit better.
I live in Colorado and last fall I got Michelin CrossClimate 2s for my VB. Great tires! They worked beautifully all winter with the snow that we had (along with several trips up to the slopes) and also worked great with all of the rain this spring/summer.
The only problem I've had with my recently acquired 2014 XV is that it still has the old version of the ac compressor, which isn't a cheap fix. AC still works intermittently, though, I just have to toggle it on and off every few minutes.
your timing belt kit is 3x as much as it should be could be the shops doing or they’re selecting the OEM Subaru parts which are just rebranded Japanese parts. Look up Aisin TKF and then find the correct number for your make model year. I got one for my 2005 sohc Outback and it was $270ish from rockauto the exact same Japanese parts you would find from Subaru Dealership.
No way a timing belt kit and water pump costs 1k
