The R also still had factory shocks and also needed to be replaced, so I went with Bilstein HD shocks all around. The HD's had awesome reviews and were cheaper than the Koni FSD shocks.
Reviews of spare parts for Volkswagen
I never ran the vwr or the neuspeed but I did ran koni yellow on my mk4 and I liked them alot.
I had StopTec Posi Quiet pads installed on my '17 R. They have very little brake dust and are much more linear feeling than the stock pads. I can highly recommend them for street use.
Here is what I've been using on the Gen3 1.8t (2014 passat) - http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...otor-oil/european/european-car-formula-5w-40-synthetic-motor-oil/?code=aflqt-ea . Works really well with a 5K OCI.
The DWS06 (mine with about 4K miles) were impressive going up and down snow covered back roads with up to a 12% grade. I had to try if I wanted to break traction except for one time when I braked too hard at a downhill stop sign. Hopefully I'll never need the socks but they don't take up much space so I'll leave them in the back for the winter.
Thanks. The one with the purple windshield is less sunny inside. I rarely need to use my sun visors.
Going to use what I use on all my VW's - Liqui Moly Good quality and Amazon has some great prices.
I normally use Mann oil filters... He replaced it with my normal Mann filter and it never happened again. Changed oil three times since then with the Mann filter and light has never come on.
Just got a Jetta again - 2010 Limited Edition just shy of 100K miles and I've got one problem with it. From a cold start, usually in the morning, the 1st 10-15 seconds run rough before settling down to idle.
Ok so I exchanged the alternator but just got it on this morning and the alternator i exchanged it with was a bosch which is a direct replacement of the original one i have, i hooked it all back up properly, new charge wire and its running at 11.4 volts now and still drops lol.
