2016 1.4 T ran like brand new after changing to the APR coils. You could definitely feel the difference.

I ran Apr coils for a little while. Was instantly more stable after I was running rough. I think it’s worth it even without a tune, and it’s more headroom to keep a tune stable as well. I didn’t notice power gains only that the rpm needle was sharper at being steady.
I'm running APR coils with ZFR5E-11 plugs. There was a noticeable smoothness when I fired it up after install.
Thanks for this great thread. I was about to pull the trigger on the EQT update for full torque on my Mk8R but I'm similarly skeptically about the possible long term consequences. Frankly speaking, it's darn quick already and I appreciate the overall flat torque curve. I feel it will be better for the track as well when I'm really revving it out..
I’m running them on stage 3 with no issues APR Z1003100 APR Iridium Pro Spark Plugs - 14x26.5x16mm - Heat Range 9
I've had APR coils for over 50k now. No issues at all. Done 3 track days on the coils, and 2 on both the coils and plugs. Been stage 2 for over 30k now.
The mk8 is certainly less subtle than the mk7, especially in Lapiz Blue. I've had my fair share of guys wanting to run. Elantra n, civic type r, a few Audi s's, WRX. On an empty highway I'll enjoy a few friendly 40-90 pulls in good fun.
I have fitted Do88 and APR an no trimming is required as your installation manual instructs
I hate ngk ngl my sparks were corroded as hell using ngk, I swapped over to Apr sparks since I’m tuned by them and they work amazing.
Those coil packs are junk.
