On the newest updated OEM starter for the 9th gen, that washer is almost 3x thicker than the previous models. This allows for more secure tooth engagement. That and the TSB fixed mine... Mine has been grind-free for over two years...
I will say - go ahead and get the Honda OEM filter. It is a nice, lightly oiled unit that seems to filter really well.
Really missed the manual so got the Si. Best feeling of them all.
This Si has, by a long shot, the smoothest, and most forgiving manual transmission I've ever driven (including a few dozen work vehicles and test drives). Just limit the amount of time you spend slipping the clutch getting into first, and it should last you a very long time. With some practice, you can get to the point where you don't slip the clutch at all going up through the gears. It's not a bad car to learn on at all.
Yup, it's the starter. Happened to my 2014 Accord 4 cylinder at 90k km. I also bought a bigger battery and it helps with all the electronics that's in these modern cars.
I have a Honda Pilot and it needed brake pads at 65k miles. The mechanic told me he replaces pads on Chevy Silverados at 25k miles.
My 09 just ate its oem alternator also, at 225k miles, but its an EX without VCM. There was some oil in the area but I guess it can’t be from the spool valve listed in the TSB.
Can confirm that 2024 Accord EX's windshield cracks easily
We had a guy trade in a 10th gen Honda Civic with the L15BE (known for head gasket failure mostly) that he filled with thicker oil. Started knocking like crazy when we changed the oil for the sale.
2025 Pilot, had a hunk of rock penetrate the windshield coming off a cow trailer when I had something like 800 miles on it
