I removed the air filter (standard, paper one) and found it clean. I replaced it with a K&N anyway.

I had the smell problem. Dealer changed the filter, didn’t help. I installed FRAM CF12552 and that took care of it.

I use K & N filters on all my vehicles, both air and cabin, probably around $100.00 for both. They are a lifetime filter, they need to be cleaned occasionally, about every 30k or so, but you'll never need to buy a filter again! It made a difference in performance of my Pilot and every other vehicle I've owned.

So far, I haven’t had any trouble with the K&N air filter. The only thing I could see being an actual problem is if you don’t remember to clean it often enough.

I would only buy OEM from Tesla on those. I tried aftermarket ones that looked identical but they were flimsy and crushed easily on the install.

I have the K&N one. There wasn't much noticeable difference for mine, although mines a Non-S. It did save me more money long term as I only have to clean it and prime it vs replace it.

These k&n air filters are trash. They basically dont filter at all. Thats how they achieve increased air flow.
