I have a 2015 Kia Soul I bought new. In over 9 years, not a single thing has gone wrong with it - no repairs of any kind. Just oil, brakes and tires.
Owner reviews for brake pads
The EBC pads (Red) that I installed 6 months or so ago have never made a peep at any time. They seemed to fit snugly in the calipers. Very happy with them mated to Zimmermann drilled rotors.
Lol paid £170 for my front brakes last week and did them myself. EBC's too.
I'm running the GiroDisc Magic Pads and do not have the knock. I did have the knock with the OEM pads when brand new, but it eventually went away as (I assume) the clearance between the caliper and clips got filled with dust. The Magic pads have been a decent street pad. No noise. Dust is on par with OEM--maybe a tad less, but not much. Outright power and fade resistance is good for spirited street driving. I do wish they had a little more initial bite.
Have a look at EBC, their “red stuff” pads work really well on my car and were nowhere near that price.
I know it’s not a Q7, but I’ve got a 2019 C8 A6 and recently had my read pads replaced by an independent, £275 but that also included my MOT at the same time.
Brembo, bosh and a few others mentioned in another comment are all really good too.
If you can't find ceramic pads, get Ferodo Premium Eco Friction.
Replaced the rotors and went with EBC yellow stuff pads. They don't look quite that bad, but 2 years later they're hardly looking like clean swept rotor surfaces.
I went to the Toyota dealership to get my free oil change, brake pads were nearly at EOL. Went back to the same Toyota dealership for my next free oil change, same brake pads suddenly had 4mm.
