Same issue, same engine. Switch to specifically Valvoline protect and restore 5w30, run a bottle of Berrymans B12 cleaner thru the gas tank before your oil change. I did this and saw improvements.

Aside from the sodium levels, which they mentioned they aren’t really worried about but to check my coolant between changes (which I do and I’m not losing any). I feel pretty good about these results!

Synthetic oil change is now $125 at the stealership so Ibu my own 0/50 Penzoil and a high quality filter every year, and vacuum out the Hybrid Traction battery filter myself
