AISIN Timing belt

Recently replaced my 2004 UL timing belt at 100k and it came out looking like new with no real evidence of wear. Worth doing though, for peace of mind. Highly recommend the Aisin kit.

Pros: peace of mind
Mileage: 100000 km

OEM Toyota Timing belt

I have a 2001 Lexus LS 430. It had about 215,000 when I got the timing belt replace. It was the original and was starting to crack. If my 21 year old belt made it to 215k and didn’t break yet. Thats when I saw mine was old and cracked.

Pros: very long lasting, 21 years
Cons: starting to crack, old
Vehicle: Lexus
Mileage: 346008 km

I have worked on some where the belt itself snapped in under 10-15k miles, others where the bearings fell apart in the 40-50k mile range. I no longer use them and refuse to install them on customer vehicles.

Cons: belt snapped, bearings fell apart
