Trying out michelin xice i2s this winter- reviews are great.
Owner reviews for tires
I am now using General Tire Altimax Arctic and they are nearly as good....not as 'fine' of a ride as the nokkians, but nokkian is high quality rubber and the price reflects that.
Currently i'm running dz101's in the front, and hankook ventus v12 evo's in the rear, although i'm considering switching that around, as the hankooks seem to be much gripper than the dz's.
Federal 595 are great for the price. $80 for some super sticky stuff
Never felt that way on pavement, but on those metal bridges sure, almost every tire I've ever had does exept the G-forces or the slicks on my m3. I actually really am happy with the Performance and life of the Pirelli Scorpion's. I've got 13,000 miles on mine and at 10/32s on the hot Florida roads thats awesome. Deff not worth switching out.
It does ok but stock tires are crap in my opinion. Good all season tire like optimo 4s (had them) would do very good but I put winter tires on and it made a huge difference from the stock tires. Makes me very confident in the CC and stability does very well.
Most of my touring has been with gatorskins and ultra gatorskins and I've had very few flats. My favorites, however, are the continental Hardshell. I've been using those for the last 2 years without a single flat.
I have in my opinion eliminated most of my tire problems with a tubeless setup. 1000 miles of riding with no punctures and a 230lbs rider.
Hutchinson intensive 25mm. A bit heavier but also more durable. Ride quality is fantastic, grip is awesome and seriously I have nothing bad to say about these tires.
I've always just used Blizzak WS-50's but they do have a squishy sidewall. The Blizzak WS-60 or Revo 01 is a lot better. The Nokian Hakkapelliita's have a better sidewall too.
i had 205/40/18 and the sidewill blew out within 3 days
