Pilkington makes a good product, too...it matches the acoustic and heat-blocking characteristics of the OEM. No optical distortions and decent chip resistance.

The OEM is great, if you can afford it or your insurance company will pay for it. There is a bit of Sekurit product out there...You can be comfortable with Sekurit, as they are one of VW OEM suppliers.
I highly recommend Eurovision, I had them add 3M Crystalline (70%) to the windshield on my A4 Avant and ceramic (5%) on the panoramic sunroof. They did an excellent job and I noticed the car stays a bit cooler inside.
VW uses the highest quality glass manufacturers out there, Sekurit, Splintex, Soliver, and Pilkington. These companies make the finest glass out there.
I had the same issue with the oem windshield on my wife's 2014 Ford Escape. From the drivers side the blurr was so bad it made my head hurt.
OEM glass+installed+camera aiming and recalibration is a BITCH. It's really costly and very unfortunate. You HAVE to use the OEM glass or you will pretty much render all of the driver assist features useless.
About half way into my hour drive home I hear a POP! It was super dark and hard to tell at first, but I realized my windshield just cracked! About a 5 inch crack straight from the top driver side. When I got home I googled to see if this was something others had issues with and found tons of others had similar issues. TLDR has your bolts windshield cracked for no good reason?
I had a rock thrown and couldn't see where it hit because it was right under a wiper blade. Next morning after sun hit it, the fucking crack was 2' long in every direction. Didn't even have a chance to get a repair... Place that replaced it, couldn't get the eyesight to calibrate, so had no cruise control for a month as they waited for an OEM to replace the replacement. Dropped it for replacement and 4 hours later they said, we got it to calibrate, no need to replace. three months later, another rock and shattered. They seem fragile as fuck.
There are ongoing known issues with Forester windshields being extremely fragile. Unfortunately, they’re also very expensive to replace because the Eyesight has to be recalibrated.
A tiny pebble hit the windshield going less than 40 mph on a small road in Montana, cracked the windshield about 8 inches.! The crack spread another 4-5 inches. Was pissed the windshield cracked. Didn't even have 6k miles on the car. Kia supposedly fixed the eggshell windshield problems, but they haven't. The resin on the telluride windshield has finally given up and a new crack has spread out from this initial crack and traveled about 12 inches out from the other crack. Don't even want another factory Kia windshield, want something stronger.!
