Brake discs ATE or OEM Volkswagen
New Rabbit front brake vented rotors (ATE) and new pads (Pagid)...SOLD
brand new front brake set up (ATE 'atomic' slotted rotors, mintex red box pads, ATE super blue racing fluid)
I just did the rear brakes on my 2000 wagon, and the parts where $82 for two ATE rotors, and PBR Metal Master pads from http://www.getcoolparts.com
Although it is just an 8V, I run my GTi hard at autocross and road race events. I still have the 9.4\" brakes up front. I just upgraded with SS lines, ATE super blue fluid, ATE power disks, and a ceramic compound pad. They stop great and have not shown any signs of fade.
I upgraded from solid rotors in my '80 rabbit to vented from a scirroco and the braking is fantastic! I seems that I don't have to press the pedal as far and the brakes stop me like a champ. I too have stomped down a bit with my vented rotors and boy do I stop quick now!
The best and most economical upgrade is using the 9.4 inch vented rotors from the '83 & '84 GTI's. With new 9.4 inch vented rotors and the right performance pads, you will have much better braking capacity without having to swap master cylinders and proportional rear valves.
just installed the power disks and mintex redboxes on my 90 b3 passat. i drive \"spirited,\" (fast) as well, and from what ive felt, and heard, these rotors are nice. the way i look at it, if the are good for the new beetle cup car and lupo cup car, theyre good enough for me.
Our 03 Variant Tip needed rear pads at 30,000. Got the ATE rotors and "OEM" pads from 1stVWParts. No complaints about price, etc BUT the pads actually put out MORE dust than the stock ones!!!!!
Both brands of rotors are made by the same vender. Ive used both and there is no difference. ATE is another story, dont ever buy ATE,oem replacement crap.
The cause is Sub-Standard, Cheap "Made in China" Rotors.
