Brake discs Zimmermann or OEM Volkswagen
Zimmerman rotors, will not warp or crack like inferior chinese metals.
I am about to get pads and rotors done all around at 110,000km. Textar pads and Zimmerman rotors
+1 for Zimmerman rotors. They are great and resist against rust better than the oem discs. I’m currently on HPS5.0 and Zimmerman at front. Braking power is great. No dust almost.
I just installed Zimmerman rotors with the stoptech pads upfront and ate ceramic pads for the rear. Performance has been excellent for a street driven car. Noticeably better than the stock pads.
I had shake and brake at 30k. warped rotors, replaced the rotors and pad, all good again
I'm going to need front brakes soon. Last time I got brakes I ordered one of their Zimmerman/Akebono kits that covered all four corners, rotors and pads. I only need front pads and rotors, so I was going to order the same kit, just for the front, and then send in my old pads and rotors off the front.
Go with good solid OE quality coated rotors, and a low dust pad like Zimmerman and Akebono, Brembo, etc. You'll probably never push the limits of the stock brakes if youre not tracking the car.
I also did the upgrade (after thoroughly reading the golfdave thread), as I hated how grabby and sticky the stock brakes were. For me, it was totally worth it. The larger front rotors have made the brakes way more linear and easy to modulate. The extra thermal capacity is just a bonus.
When I did my rear brake rotors I did zimmerman but I wish I did the meyle ones that don't rust. The "hub" part in the rear is covered in surface rust.
Imperfections in either the brake rotors or pads making gouge marks in my rotors
