Brake pads Brembo or Mintex
Just when I think I've got the RK Spyder figured out, the incredibly precise steering, crushingly effective Brembo four-piston-caliper brakes deliver a thrilling driving experience that begs for a track day before I reach 4th gear.
I have the ECS stage1 fronts with mintex C-Tech racing pads and R32 vented rears with stock pads, Super Blue fluid. At summit point Shennedoah circuit which is pretty hard on brakes, I experienced NO fade at all. The pads maintained impressive bite lap after lap, even during one 40 minute session.
I'm running the same stuff too. Mintex Redbox pads. Like them alot. Feels alot better when stopping.
Those Brembo brakes haul the car down from silly speeds repeatedly on the track with no sign of fade or sogginess.
I changed the pads to Mintex Reds on both my GLI and the 20th. No squeekies for me. Wet, dry, rusty. All gone.
I put mintex redbox on my car as well, and they are much better, as far as the dust goes.
I just installed Mintex red box pads on my 337 and can't complain. They work just as well as the factory pads and it is a trip to not see the reddish dust on the RCs.
I had crossdrilled corrado g60 brakes with mintex metallic pads on my yellow cabriolet and it was impressive, stop like hitting a wall
After 5,000 miles with the Mintex rear pads, I found that they still produce more brake dust than the fronts and the thickness is already down to where the original fronts are now. Also the Mintex pads are a little noisier as I heard them squeak one time at a red light, and they make some other noises (not squeaking or squealing) during low speed maneuvers. You know...that friction sound brakes make when you edge forward slightly from a stop. Overall, they are still better than VW's soft stock pads, but not as much as I'd hoped.
I upgraded to Mintex redbox pads and ATE Powerdiscs on the car (Golf GL). After about 1/2 year, the pedal started vibrating - warped discs, I assume. Also, the brakes seem to lock up relatively easily.
