Brake pads EBC or OEM Volkswagen
the brakes are pretty damn awesome for a stock car too.
yeah my ABS light is always on in my jetta ..... the brakes work great but sometimes (very rarely) i can feel the brake pedal trying to move back up when i press it very softly coming to a very slow stop
Leon was able to replace my fronts, and I only had to pay for pads (EBC Greenstuff Compound, I'll never use VW Jurid/Pagid pads again).
EBC brakes, Injen SRI, ridiculous stereo, etc.
Don't rule out EBC Greenstuff - they completely transformed my wife's Camry - it couldn't stop from the factory, it couldn't stop after I spent alot of money on new pads, rotors, lines from some "brake expert", and when I installed EBCs the car is now FUN to play the stop sign game.
Thank goodness the brakes are superbly balanced -- else I'd be burping the ABS system too.
I would highly recommend EBC greens for an A1 or A2 owner looking for a decent track day capable street pad.
I actually love my EBCs for street use. Incredible cold bite, no dust (ever), no squeak (ever), and my rotors and pads still look brand new after 6 months.
If you are doin competition, yeah, EBC pads and slotted / drilled are worthwhile, but for mere performance road use, there's no point (except for looks). The rotors wear faster, create more dust, and the pads, whilst they may not create as much dust, will squeal.
They chewed up my stock front rotors. But they needed to be changed anyway.
