Just switched to dba t2 w Hawk ceramics (combo set from new provisions racing) w factory calipers and lines.

I’d been considering brembo swap, but money had to be reallocated, so I abandoned full upgrade dreams. Old rotors were warped and pads were a dusty mess, so pretty much anything was an improvement.

Hawks are quiet, super-smooth/consistent engagement when I step on pedal, and minimal dust. Definitely happy w decision.

Pros: quiet, smooth engagement, minimal dust

OEM Mazda Brake pads

My 12 of this generation is at 222k miles with just oil changes and tires as well. One set of pads and rotors at 175k and still had life left.

Pros: reliable and lowest maintenance

Mileage: 357271 km

I run non-oem pads on my t6 but that’s because I like more initial bite when I step on the brakes. I use Hawk street performance pads. They definitely make more dust and sometimes more noise than OE pads.

Pros: strong initial bite
Cons: more dust, more noise

Hawk Performance Brake pads

I thought I had a bleed/bore issue because my hydro wouldn't lock up under full force, turns out the stock style break pads were not sufficient to lock it up (even though stock pads work to lock rear wheels on foot brake). I switched over to Hawk HP+ pads and that did the trick for me.

Pros: solved locking issue
Cons: stock pads insufficient

I haven’t heard of fake brake pads but be careful. The main reason I’m commenting is HP+ pads might be good for autox but if you have experience on track, I’d avoid. Granted, my experience using them was on a 2015 WRX but you can overheat the pads pretty quickly on a heavy braking circuit.

Cons: overheat quickly

OEM Mazda Brake pads

Changed the pads front and rear was super easy and straight forward. Then after taking the car out of 'electric brake service mode' and starting the car I get the a yellow check engine light and code C05AB, clearing it made no difference. Only thing I could find online was "The electronically controlled brake unit detects that the pressure feed valve (primary side) is stuck ON (OPEN)."

Pros: easy installation, straightforward
Cons: check engine light, code C05AB
Vehicle: Mazda 3

As good as they are I had to stop using them because of the dust. Ruined the clear coat on my rims. Also the noise when coming to a gentle stop

Cons: ruined clear coat, noisy
