Brake pads OEM Mazda or Hawk Performance
I'm running Hawk HPS pads with Raybestos Professional grade rotors. Got 5 years out of my first set, at 6 years now on the current set.
I have Hawk HPS pads and they work great on the street and produce way less dust than stock pads.
I ran the Hawk HP+, and had no complaints. Never did a whole lot of hard driving, but they held up in short bursts and were good for daily driving.
I inherited a 2011 cx7 from my parents who purchased this car new. They have always kept care of their vehicles. This is a non turbo model. Other than normal maintenance items they had replaced the AC compressor. Since I took it over in 2020, I replaced drive side front wheel bearing and passenger front caliper, brake pads all the way around plus normal maintenance items. 320,000km runs perfectly.
I’m a fan of the Hawk HP+ track pads! The bite and fade resistance is excellent. They’re a little squeaky on the street but not terrible.
For last Autox season I used the factory calipers. Hawk blue pads, motul brake fluid. Had no issues at all.
I autocross a bit and went with Hawk rotors and pads from Tirerack after a bit of mulling it over. Overall fairly happy with them, a little dusty but have NEVER faded while on them hard. Put maybe a hard 5k miles on them so far.
edit- I do have a 1.8 and as mentioned at least once you should consider getting the 1.8's calipers.
Seems a bit sus - but it's not unusual for rear pads to wear faster than front on certain cars. My Ford Flex and CX-50 both wear pads faster out back (it made sense on the Flex because of long wheelbase but was surprised the 50 did it too). That said they should last twice as long.
I’ve got StopTech st-40’s and run Hawk HP+ pads. They have good bite and hold up pretty well, they’re just SUPER loud until they’re hot and are also fairly dusty
Similar thing happened to me today, vehicle is 2023 cx-50, 25k mile, not even 2 year, in upstate ny with weekly car wash, gentle on gas and brake. They said front pads are 30%, rear pads are 50%, quoted me $600 to get new front pad & rotor, and rear brake service(cleaning, lubrication). Just 2 month ago from another mechanic's report (same delear), all pads are above 50%. I don't think it's that bad that both pad and rotor need to be replaced, so I denied the work,
