Shock absorbers Rancho or KONI
Little update: since car is ca car with 72k miles and garaged whole it\u2019s life, i think it wasnt too bad. I replaced the boot and re-greased outer. Drives just fine, no noises or anything.
I heard the same about the B8 so I bought the Koni Special active with Eibach pro kit lowering 3cm.
I can say I am absolutely satisfied. The car is a real train at the curves without being stiff.
I would suggest at least better shock absorbers (the emu ones are good but I've heard that the Koni adjustable shocks are a lot better especially for the body roll)
Mine on my Corrado VR6 are set right in the middle and are as smooth riding as any car. It also corners better than any car I have owned.
I have Koni Yellows and stock springs on my '93 Corrrado SLC (VR6) that's in storage. I put the dampening right in the middle and they rode great and my Corrado handled great.
I went with the HDs - much better than stock - better all around ride, IMO.
i'm currently running Koni oranges (STR.T) with Tein H-techs which are a very mild upgrade spring. they'll feel like stock with a bit more control and have a lifetime warranty. i'm told they feel like a Koni yellow on full soft, and they don't involve cutting - direct replacement. i have almost 30k miles on mine and they groan sometimes in the cold but are otherwise holding up just fine.
Koni yellows were awesome in my GLI when I had them
I installed them with the ECS 23mm bar. In retrospect I can't justify the additional price over say a Bilstein B6 (I installed those on my previous Jetta). I thought they would be smoother/more expensive riding than the Bilsteins, but you can still pick up every little expansion joint and imperfection in the road....unless that's what you are going for.
They are shit shocks anyways and should be replaced with bilstein 5100s as soon as possible.
