Timing belt OEM Toyota or Gates
I have always had good luck with gates belts and they have always looked good when I replaced them too. 70-80k belts looking almost new.
I have had good luck with them for years.
Gates makes good belts.
Anytime I’ve done or seen a Toyota timing belt done at the recommended 90k it looks like it has plenty of life left.
I've never seen a Toyota or Lexus have a belt failure. The other components idler(s) and water pump are usually the cause of catastrophic timing failure.
Gates is fine. If you find the gates racing belt it's better. But they are super rare these days. Stay away from any Amazon or ebay crap.
Gates, I've installed dozens of them and never had a problem, easily outlast the timing belt.
The common complaint of gates timing belts is that they're loud.
I experienced this as well. Bought a kit and the belt was sooooo hard to get on. Like I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but man it was hard to get on. The belt broke after less than 10k miles. Everything was marked genuine, etc.
I've had gates belts do that in 20k.
