Tires Toyo or Continental
I have Conti DW in 225/40-18s and love them. Tirerack has them for $144/ea right now. 340 AA A I've also owned Mich PS, PS2, Conti DWS, and P Zeros in this size.
I have the Continental Extreme Contact DW tires and have no complaints. Good price. Good grip. Comfortable.
For all season , Continental Extreme Contact DWS are great, kinda weak sidewalks though.
Now, I have had two sets of these, in addition to quite a few of my friends running these tires, nary a problem.
My Volvo had a pretty new set of Conti DWS's and they worked well in mild snow and really nicely in the rain, even when they wore down into the "D."
I like Continental DWS on my R. They are a good set up for heavy rain and mild snow, and fairly cheap.
I have Continental 4000 700x25 tires. In 4000mi I got 2 flats and the tires look good for a few thousand miles more. Low rolling resistance, fast, great handling. I highly recommend Continental tires.
I have a pair of Continental Gator Hardshells. All I can say is that having them on my bike is like having a pair of Hulk's foreskin on my wheels. I ride in NYC so the streets can get pretty messy. Glass, twigs, metal shards, shrapnel, bullets, arrows, and the occasional mortar rounds are no biggie for these tires.
My "Q" rated Toyo snows get extremely greasy as soon as the temperature gets to fifty or higher. I love them in temps below freezing, and on icy roads, but they're a little dangerous on warm days.
Just in case anyone is wondering ContiWinterContact TS810 S are the worst snow tires you can buy. I've got them on my car and as soon as snow hits they feel like worn-out all seasons. I think they were only designed for cold dry autobahns, not actual snow. Horrible.
